Greater Lyon may ban all diesel vehicles

The Métropole de Lyon will step up its fight against automobile pollution.

The community announces the upcoming extension of the low emissions zone as well as its generalization to private vehicles. Objective stated: no more diesel engines in the center of the metropolis in five years.
In order to fight against air pollution, the Métropole de Lyon announced, 12 November 2020 in a press release, its intention to amplify and extend the low emission zone. This concerns almost all of the districts of Lyon, the sectors of Villeurbanne, Bron and Vénissieux located inside the ring road and the town of Caluire-et-Cuire.

Only goods transport vehicles are currently concerned. The metropolis will submit to a vote next spring the possibility of expanding the perimeter by including new municipalities, but also of extending the measure to private vehicles.
