Balingen no longer has a Low Emission Zone

The Regional Council decided to abolish the LEZ in Balingen from 1 November 2020 onwards.

Even from a conservative point of view, the limit value for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is still safely met on an annual average. "The measures taken by the state and the city are successful. The air quality in Balingen has improved considerably," said District President Klaus Tappeser in a statement by the Regional Council. The public interpretation of the draft of the first update of the Balingen Clean Air Plan and the opportunity to participate will start on 17 August 2020.

In Balingen, the limit value for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded on an annual average in 2013, which is why a Clean Air Plan was drawn up in 2016. The effective clean air plan measures proved successful. Since 2017, the limit value of 40 μg/m³ has been exceeded on an annual average: in 2017, the annual average value was 34 µg/m³, in 2018 31 µg/m³ and in 2019 only 28 µg/m³.

As a result of this welcome improvement in air quality, the following measures will be repealed as of 1 November 2020 with the first update of the Balingen Clean Air Plan:
Repeal of the environmental zone
Lifting of the speed limit of 30 km/h on the entire B 27 - Endingen thoroughfare.
