Low Emission Zones in Israel

Haifa and Jerusalem have established LEZs.

Israel has, to date, created two low-emission zones in Israel, as part of its efforts to reduce vehicular air pollution in Israel. These LEZs are shaped after those in Europe. They contribute to a reduction in air pollution, noise, and congestion, and improve the quality of life for urban populations. Israel's first LEZ was established in 2018, in Haifa's lower city. The second was created in Jerusalem in 2020, as part of a joint initiative between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Jerusalem municipality.

Diesel vehicles need to meet Euro standard 4 to be able to circulate and park in the cities or need to install a particulate filter.
