The Hague tightens its LEZ for mopeds

The Hague: Only mopeds built after 2010 are allowed to enter.

The Hague will have an environmental zone for polluting petrol mopeds and mopeds. From December 1, 2020, you are no longer allowed to drive a moped and light moped from 2010 and before that anywhere in The Hague. Old electric mopeds are allowed.

2-stroke mopeds and 2-stroke mopeds are polluting. Especially when waiting or driving away at traffic lights, 2-stroke vehicles emit a lot of harmful particles. This is bad for the health of cyclists and pedestrians who travel close to these mopeds and mopeds. Resarch has shown that an environmental zone can significantly reduce the emission of soot and particulate matter.

Do you have an old moped or light moped that you want to have scrapped? The municipality has a scrapping scheme. If you have your vehicle scrapped, you will receive a credit. You can use this to buy an (electric) bicycle or a travel credit for public transport, for example. You will receive a credit of € 400 for a scrapped moped or light moped. If you have an Ooievaarspas € 750.
