Introduction

Madrid has various schemes in place: a low emission zone, an access regulation, an emergency scheme and a weight regulation.



Dates and details
There are a number of regulations in Madrid (Letras and Cortes, de Embajadores, Opera and from 2015 Barrio de Universidad (ACIBU) and AV Justicia) during different times of the day, giving priority to residents.

There are several regulated areas in Madrid, Letras and Cortes, de Embajadores, Opera and from 2015 Barrio de Universidad (ACIBU) and AV Justicia see the maps below. They have different access times, detailed below.

In the area Letras and Cortes:
Mon –Sat 08:00 - 11:00 loading and unloading allowed
Mon –Sat 07:00 - 22:00 motorcycles (also non residential) allowed
Outside this time frame only residents, emergency, public services and public transport vehicles and vehicles that take care of trash are allowed.

In the area de Embajadores:
Mon –Sat 10:00 - 13:00 loading and unloading allowed
Mon –Sat 07:00 - 22:00 motorcycles (also non residential) allowed

In the yellow streets loading and unloading allowed:
Mon –Sat 08:00 - 14:00
Mon –Sat 16:00 - 19:00

In the area Opera: from 12 / 2014 on
Mon –Sat 10:00 - 13:00 loading and unloading allowed
Mon –Sat 07:00 - 22:00 motorcycles (also non residential) allowed

In the area Barrio de Universidad (ACIBU) and la AV Justicia: from 2015 on
Mon –Sat 10:00 - 13:00 loading and unloading allowed
Mon –Sat 07:00 - 22:00 motorcycles (also non residential) allowed

Spain now has four emission stickers.The cities can use them also for incentives or bans of certain vehicles.  

Putting the sticker on your windshild is voluntary - as the scheme is camera enforced.
